Pennsylvania Pastors Network Leader Shares His Heart About Prayer for the Nation

Pennsylvania Pastors Network Executive Director Gary Dull recently shared a personal note with his congregation at The Faith Baptist Church of Altoona regarding an urgent calling to pray for the nation.

“Many things happening in America should cause great concern for all true believers in Jesus Christ,” Dull says. “These are ungodly, unbiblical and kick at the very strength of our nation. We are far beyond the place of talking about prayer for America. We are at the place when WE MUST PRAY. Just a few of the issues that need desperate prayer include relations with Iran, presidential impeachment efforts, ongoing trade talks with China, the 2020 election and numerous other behind-closed-doors matters that many Americans may not even realize. The challenge before those of us who love God and love America is to make prayer for America a daily priority.”

Eight specific matters about which Christians can pray, Dull said, include the following:

  1. That Christians will become serious about prayer for America and be led by the Holy Spirit to pray.
  2. That American citizens will genuinely turn to God.
  3. That there will be a spiritual revival in America.
  4. That political leaders will seek God for wisdom to lead America biblically.
  5. That the Holy Spirit will put into the minds of those who may not seek God’s wisdom the ability to make decisions that will lead America biblically.
  6. That all American leaders, but particularly President Trump, will be protected from evil.
  7. That absolute truth will prevail in all issues America is facing.
  8. That pastors and churches will take up the banner for absolute truth and integrity across America.

“Psalm 11:3 says, ‘If the foundations be destroyed, what shall the righteous do?’” Dull added. “The answer to that question is found in the rest of the 11th Psalm, which is that God sits on his throne in Heaven and sees all things, sorts out all things and sends judgment when and where it is needed. The final verse of the Psalm says, ‘The righteous lord loves righteousness; his countenance does behold the upright.’ Certainly, all those who love God and our nation are greatly concerned. Let us pray that we will begin to see God at work in all things that are happening in our government. America needs to see God like never before!”

The Pennsylvania Pastors Network isa state chapter of the American Pastors Network (APN), a group of biblically faithful clergy and church liaisons whose objective is to build a permanent infrastructure of like-minded clergy who affirm the authority of Scripture, take seriously Jesus’ command to be the “salt and light” to the culture, encourage informed Christian thinking about contemporary social issues, examine public policy issues without politicizing their pulpits and engage their congregations in taking part in the political process on a non-partisan basis.

With PPN and APN’s firm belief in God’s power to heal and restore our nation, the ministries have launched a nationwide plan to enlist 10,000 prayer warriors to commit to praying every Tuesday until Election Day 2020 for the moral and spiritual renewal of America. Among the topics will be protecting the unborn and the sanctity of life in America.

Called “52 Tuesdays,” the initiative is a dedicated season of prayer for the important 2020 presidential election and topics close to voters’ hearts. PPN and APN is encouraging prayer warriors nationwide to add their name to the growing “52 Tuesdays” list.
